outlaw Crew arose out of a meeting of the minds between a number of people who wrote in very different styles. It has been a fixture on the Paris scene and the city's walls for several years now. It is their uniqueness that makes them so outstanding.
The crew first got together in 1990. Before that, its members belonged to two different groups that more or less coexisted, T.P.K. and S.O.S. The first appeared in 1986 and included Ekstaz, Eskiss and Kline. Hoke, Erokl, Kone and Pseye were in the second. What drove all of them was the quest for street cred. You could tell that from the enormous quantity of tags, throw ups and chromes they did on the trains that criss-cross the Paris area. They covered the rails and the highways with their chromes and the walls of vacant lots with colour pieces. Their style was influenced by movies about the New York hip-hop scene-Beat Street, Breakstreet and Style War. Another strong impact on their development came from heavy-hitting Paris cliques like B.B.C., Colt and T.C.A. In 1995 Zeki joined the crew, followed by Thor two years later. Until 1996, the Outlaws tended to be isolated from other writers, but since then they have painted with other people like Seyb from T.O.P., Lost from A.S.T. and the K.C.A.'s Toons.

This collective is built to last. No doubt they still have some surprises in store for us in the years to come.
